This dictionary is written for students who are learning Swahili as a second language. The 1,837 words that are defined in it are words likely to be encountered by a primary school student in East Africa who is learning Swahili. Most of the English words in the definitions have been taken from among the English words taught during the first four years of the English courses currently in use in Kenya primary schools.
