Abstract
The article discusses the history and evolution of bilingualism in education in Kenya. Apparently, the Kiunguja dialect of Swahili is used extensively, usually as a contact language between members of different language groups. But at the same time, usage of the English language has also increased and has become the primary language of Central Government, of the law, of banking and of industry and commerce. With the use of the vernacular languages and Swahili and English provided evidence on the stability of the bilingual situation in Kenya.
